Okay, so I've been looking for an actual fulltime job for a loooong time now, getting sidetracked by working at Liberty Tax etc. Well I just went through a series of calls and interviews for the nearby Baskin Robbins... and I got the job! Thank effing God! It was touch and go there for a bit 'cause she said all the interviewees were on equal footing and I had almost convinced myself I wouldn't get it. I'll start off with maybe 15 hours a week to work into more after training. I even get to go to Fanime 'cause I don't start until after that. :D

Only things I'm worried about now are Anime Expo and Otakon, along with being able to take Tai Kwon Do as much because the training hours are during the same time. Job comes first... wargh... I'll figure it out. *nods resolutely* Okay! Now it's time to panic about finishing costumes before Tema and I leave on Tuesday. <3

New school year

So a few things as an update, since a lot has happened and I'd like to log it. |D

I'm in a new apartment, since the dorms wanted to stick me in a room with THREE other people. Apparently there was a huuuuge influx of students and yadda yadda who needed housing. Sux. But! My mom wanted me to come to school, like, really really bad. So to bribe me, she told me she'd buy me a scooter. Hot damn, I took her up on the offer and rented an apartment about 4 blocks away from the Oakland campus. Steve, the landlord, is a really great and helpful guy who comes out within the day if I have and problems with the place. He only rents to CCA students, though he's likely to make an exception. A whole 1 bedroom apartment to myself, at least until x_igrab moves out from Baltimore to live with me. Joy! =D And some other details that might entail getting another roomy, but I'm too lazy to get into that.

Soooo now I also have a 2007 Honda Elite scooter, bright red, 80cc, tops off around 45mph. Named it Basch fon Ronsenburg, but on the weekend it goes by Gabranth.

In the meantime my computer died (mother board got fried not half a year after it was replaced), my water got turned off, and AT&T kept messing up the internet so I didn't have it for nearly 2 weeks. But, now I have a new computer named Robin Goodfellow in honor of the late laptop Puck. Shiny new Gateway that I hope lasts a damn long time without having to mess with warranties and recalls and boards that get so hot they burn my legs.

Internet's on. I bought Team Fortress 2, which I'm damn addicted to, thank you very much. Note new icon and that I kill as Scout. Punk.

Pulled my hip in Capoeira last night, but it feels good to be exercising again. I was getting all depressed from not doing anything. Also cut my hair, managed to cut a chunk out of my finger at the same time. Battle wound, LOL.

... and I'm also too lazy to write a decent ending sentence.

Cosplay update: Balthier

So I've been working almost constantly on a Balthier cosplay, from Final Fantasy XII. I supposed I should post some progress pics, since I've been a little lacking in those. |D

This is how I started the vest. Pieces of my leather Larry coat that I no longer needed, cut to shape and the design is being burned into it. The color was then put on with acrylic and shiny gold paint.

I'm going on vaccation to Yellowstone for two weeks and that'll cut into my crafting time quite a bit. I'll be taking everything I can sew by hand, like details on the belts and the hair line lace.

So, me n' DemonicGaara and AntiquityDreams went photoshooting this weekend. Whoooo~ I took pics of them in Genin Naruto gettup with their umbrellas, and I went as Xigbar 'cause I've never been happy with the majority of the pics I've gotten as him. Forgot my gloves, though...

I loved this place because it looked a lot like the Land of Dragons from the game. ~~Yes, I know that was Chinese and this is Japanses, but it still looks cool.~~

Lol, I was on the phone with x_igrab and wasn't even aware this was being taken... despite looking right at the camera...

Hokai! So, x_igrab visited this weekend. We hiked around San Fran and went to Fisherman's Warf and Japan Town and I introduced her to the confusion that is the Bay Area's multiple modes of public transportation. It was great fun. XD We took photo club pictures at Pika Pika in Japan Town and I scanned the ones I have.

They're so... pink... wargh. Funny thing about photo club booths is that they think only girls and couples go to them. ...Then again, that's probably true. Though tack on 'cosplayers' to the end of that list and your statistics are a little more accurate. (Tee hee, Org coat.)

Then! On Sunday she came over to my dorms, after I spent all morning cleaning the damn room up. Laundry! Woo! We walked down the street and got Korean Bar-B-Q for lunch, then came back and did exactly what we always do: IMed and RPed. We just... happened to be in the same room at the time. XD

It was sad when she had to leave the next morning, but at least I know I get to see her (and others!) again in a few weeks at ACEN. Waaaaaugh ACEN...

Blood Donation and Tegaki

Donated blood today for the first time in a year or so. Forgot to drink water, though, so I nearly fainted after sitting up when I was done. Whoo vision going white is a strange sensation.

Made new icon too! Photoshop and Xigbar had a lovechild called the 'Betch' icon.

In other news, dammit I hate non-art classes. I don't do the readings, which really doesn't help because I know that I'll eventually need to write a paper using said readings. Blargh, two papers in a row for two different classes.

Internet isn't being all that helpful in that sense. That Tegaki Blog everyone's suddenly into has gotten me hooked like whoa. I lurves it. :>

Kaku cosplay journal and CP9 meme

I'm really sort of falling head first into this fandom, aren't I? Oh well! I enjoy it and all that good stuff. This is something of a WIP journal, 'cause I'm going to post in-progress pics of Kaku in here. I'm going to try and start doing this from now on for all my new cosplays.

Hokai, so~ ~~Z'ere's se eartz. Damn, that's a nice eartz.~~

This is the nose I made, showing you the inside. Sorry I don't have more than this, I didn't have a camera when I was making it. :/

And here it is on the face. No attempt at blending, just making sure that eyelash glue will hold it on. It does a decent enough job.

I made the Galley-La hat, which inspired me to try the rest of the makeup for the eyes and nose. Made the eyelashes out of strips of thin black cloth which had anti-fraying stuff on it to keep it from unraveling. attemtpt at nose blending with skin wax, but I think I'm going to need some liquid latex or something. Also, my nose started running and there was no way to blow it. >___< Note to self to figure out a way to fix that... Oh, and the wig was one that happened to be sitting around 'cause I styled it for bouncy_erbear's Luxord cosplay.

That's the wig I bought. Yes, that. And yes, I know I look weird with long hair. You'll see why I bought such a long one in a bit.

First step was to chop off all the long ends and neatly set them aside. There were a looot more than what's shown, but you get the idea.

Which left me with nasty flat ends. :/ Time to texturize and fix that.

There we go~ I did a bit more to the top after this pic, but didn't bother to take a picture. The whole thing was then sprayed with got2Bglued freeze spray and combed neatly.

Using small bits of the left over hair, now neatly stored in a bag for future use, I spirit-glued on sideburns. Yaaay sideburns! I sat there and pet them for a loooong time...

Then made Galley-La jacket. This is showing the sleeves getting sewed on.

Line cut into and zipper sewed in. Hat, wig, and nose for fun~

Zipper flap, faux pocket... thing, and buttons now in place. Yay finished!
